Recreation ActivitiesBocce - Butch Olsen, Convener Bocce is one of the oldest sports in history, having been developed some 7,200 years ago. Bocce is played with eight large balls and one smaller target. This program will be held on Tuesday and Thursday. Anyone interested will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Nor-Bridge Lions Parks at 6:30 pm [weather permitting]. Bocce will start once the weather warms up sometime in April or May, for more information refer to our monthly Newsletter.
Carpet Bowling - Helen Gepneris & Billy McTighe, Conveners This team sport is played on an indoor carpet, using bowls and a jack. Our group welcomes any new members, and is willing to give instruction if needed. Carpet Bowling is held on Wednesdays & Fridays at 9:30 am in the Multi-Purpose Room.
Darts - Ken Bobinec, Convener Darts is an indoor game in which players take turns throwing darts from a set distance at a circular board. There are ten dart boards in the Multi-Purpose Room. Darts is played every Wednesday at 1:00 pm. New/Novice players welcomed.
Floor Curling - Nadine Taylor & Victor Boychuk, Convener The Floor Curlers meet on Mondays & Thursdays at 9:30 am in the Multi-Purpose Room. This sport is similar to ice curling, with a skip, third, second and a lead. Come out and join in the fun beginners, novice and experienced players welcomed.
Pool - Dan Deringer, Convener Located in the Pool Room are four pool tables: one ten-foot regulation lady snooker table, one Eight/Nine Ball regulation table for both men & ladies, and two twelve-foot tables suitable for pool golf and snooker. Drop-in any time. The Pool Room is open daily 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Each year an invitational tournament is hosted, along with in-house tournaments.
Shuffleboard - Clay Olsen, Convener Also located in the Pool Room are three shuffleboards. The scheduled date for the program is Tuesday at 9:00 am. Members are welcome to drop in at any time to play a game or two!
Table Tennis - Paul White, Convener This activity is located in the Multi-Purpose Room on Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm including open play, singles & doubles. A tournament will be held in the fall. New members are welcome and instruction is available if required.
Note: An afternoon program for beginners will take place on Thursday at 2:30 pm. |
